Hi all ... summer is on the doorstep and high temps are already kicking in ... I wish to have as much as possible how I can keep the temps as much low as possible (chillers and/or A/Cs are ruled out)

I already do these .. switch off the lights, boost aeration, remove the hood and cover with a mesh (to avoid fish jumping out) ... sometimes temps are so high that I end up freezing large blocks of ice overnight and drop a block in the aquarium every morning (if this is bad don't worry I accept criticism and will stop doing this practice upon your advise)

Recently I read that using PC fans helped you in keeping low temps. I find this interesting therefore if anyone can post some images of his/her setup it will help me do a DIY project

Really want this issue to be solved :)

Thanks alot in advance and looking forward for as much ideas as possible. CYA

Hi Charles, I think I met you last Thursday when I came at the club and bought fish food and applied for membership ... remember I told you that sometimes it goes up to 30 but the problem is that this year, for example today is already at 28 degrees .. so it will for sure exceed the 30's during the hotter months. Sincerely don't wish to leave the ac on as well as the idea of chiller doesn't go well with me either. Therefore I am trying my luck in getting more ideas from you members with long experience in such cases, such as the one using PC fans, but have to see some DIY projects of yours to get the idea. Thanks !

You have 3 options to try and follow ,if i where you i would give it a go ,but never put ice in your tank just fill a water bag with water freez it and put it in the aquarium as soon as it melts just put it again in the freezer.

Hi, I have some aquariums near a very large window with direct sunlight and at one point last summer one of them went up to 35! It is with Discus so there were no problems with the fish but was still too high. I use PC fans.. I find that each one lowers the temp by about 2-3 degrees so imo they are the cheapest and best option. Good luck!
