Hi Edmund welcome to our family and I must say that I like your Discus very much too.

What type of Discus is the the one on the right in the first photo.  It has wider vertical bars.

What are you breeding at the moment?

Thats a brilliant turquise. Those lines are formed when discus are a bit scary or stressed. When i took the photos in the aquarium there was three pairs laying eggs so there was some bullying. The other two are bullied by the pairs. Thanks for the comments.

I have fry from the ones in the second photo the pigeon blood and the red turquise. In the 3 rd photo there is three of the fry which where about six cm.

A the moment i am selling the fry which are about 6 cm because i need space although i have about 6 brreding tanks of 60 ltr each.

Those members who have some problems on discus do not hesitate to contact me.

    Thanks

But usually the bars on stressed Discus are just vertical straight lines like the one in the second photo. The pattern on the Discus mentioned is different.

You could bring an advert of your Discus in our classifieds page in our website. Also if you're a member you can give us your details and we'll add to the list published in our monthly newsletters.

Any photos of the breeding tanks Edmund?  I'm always curious to see other people's fishrooms! Wink

Well done Edmund for breeding such gorgeous fish successfully....and I like your new planted discus setup.

I am setting a similar sized one this week to save me from repeating some issues I've had with my discus in community but it will eventually house 4 to 5 adults only together with some algae eaters and tetras. I always read that to keep discus happy in the long term one should allow roughly 10 gallons of water per adult fish. Do you challenge that? What's your experience, any issues ?

    Regards Alan

This is my humble discus tank. I would like your comments please as maybe you all know I am not into discus and more and more into planted tanks. So this is my first experience. I made a bed of fertilizer covered with gravel. I am giving out 8 hour light and at the moment using a DIY CO2 system. I haven't introduced any fish yet as I am still maturing the tank. Awaiting your comments.

     hi Martin

Well finally we get to see your new tank. It looks great, but i am sure when the plants will grow more it will look more natural. I really like the  bog wood or drift wood you have put at the side. What i would like to suggest is to see if you can find some low growing plants for the front. Well waiting for you to put the fish in. By the way wanted to ask you , what do you mean by do it yourself CO2 system.

Hi Martin seems that your tank is taking shape.... was wondering if that piece of bogwood Frank mentioned is real. Because it has a different colour and is very eye catching in your aquarium. In a tank like this you need to have balance in the whole aquarium where your eyes will go from one side to the other to see all the scene. I would change that with a real piece of bogwood/ driftwood because they are darker. Because you put that bogwood to hide the filter, but the brownish colour of that piece, attracts the eye to it.

I would add some types of Crypts for the foreground and add some java moss to the bogwood. On the  whole its a very nice setup and your Discus will enjoy it for sure.
