    Bristlenose Spawning.

I cannot say much, but my BN pair laid eggs last night & the male is guarding the cave. The female looks quire battered, all her fins are thorn & her stomach is concaved. I just hope that I don't lose her. Tongue Tied I also found some eggs outside the cave & I removed them to another tank. Also in the same tank with the BN, I have a few C.paleatus & some Swordtails & Guppy's. Now lets see what happens..... Zip it!

Did you separate the couple ? Is it normal for bristlenose to bully the female after the spawn ? Good luck for the fry hatch , fingers crossed

I didn't touch anything from the tank. I left the Livebearers & the Corydoras in the tank & obviously the female BN is in there too. I didn't see the male BN all day & he's in his cave with the rest of the eggs. Not only fingers, but I'm also crossing my toes. Stick out tongue

I was told to leave the female there, as the male will lose interest in her, as he's very busy guarding. Also I have to feed her up more, so she'll re-gain her health as soon as possible. Smile

She looks quite better & hopefully she'll survive. Here I'm posting 2 pictures of her the day after she laid eggs.

I cannot understand something...... all the books I read say that the male BN will guard the eggs, looking out of the cave. As you can see from the picture, the male BN I have is doing the opposite thing. Huh?

I think he cannot face outwards because the opening is too narrow lol

Thanks alot Guys. The tank is 140L & it houses 5 Guppy's, 3 Swordtails, 5 Corydoras & the Bristlenoses. The temperature is 23 Deg.Cel. & the tank is half planted.

The male is quite agile & he's in & out of the cave in a matter of seconds. Today I saw him outside the cave for the first time, but I don't think that the eggs hatched, as they take 5 days. I never saw the eggs but I'm quite patient & don't want to bother them.

Even the eggs I removed, didn't hatch & they're still orange & looking good.  Zip it! Still got the toes crossed......... Hmm

    Re: Bristlenose Spawning.

Today, some of the eggs that I've removed started to hatch & they're like an orange ball & wriggling tails, attached to the side glass. I'll post some pictures very soon......

The male is still guarding the cave, but this morning he was under the cave & buired into the gravel...... quite weird but after a while he was on guard as usuall. I haven't seen any eggs or fry in the tank. Zip it!

So they didn't darken a bit before they hatched? Interesting to see what the colour of the fry will be.
