This is a small update on my central american setup! Nothing much has changed except that the salvini has bred again and the EBJD has been developing more but unfortunately lost his best buddy. This is a short clip I made. Hope you enjoy guys! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yujlnF5MTRQ

Thanks Giann... yes the EBJD is looking good however I have lost his partner a few weeks ago. Regarding the Salvini fry, go to the Open Discussion thread and see " what fish have you bred ". Your comments will be appreciated.

    Re: Central Americans

The central americans are not as agressive as some malawi cichlids. However when breeding they are secluded in one corner of the tank and territorial disputes arises between inhabitans. But still not that killing aggresivness.

      hi  Martin

What beautiful colours. I must admit i have never kept any  central American chiclids.  So i really do not know anything about them. I guess they would take care of their young, no, are they similar in breeding habits and the convicts ?  Do they grow to a large size and can you keep them in a community tank, or are they very aggressive.

    Re: Central Americans

Thanks....... Central American Cichlids are also aggressive Cikk like other cichlids specially whilst breeding. There are some of them which grow quite big such as the red devil (A.Citrinellus) and the Wolf Cichlid ( N.Dovii). There are other species which grow up to 30 cm in length and surely are not suitable for community aquaria. Other South Americans species do grow much smaller up to 11 - 15 cm. Although they are not as aggressive as other species, they will surely defend their territory specially when they have fry to defend. Some of the South american species I have are the Sajica cichlid, the fire mouth cichlid, the salvini cichlid, convict cichlid, Jack Dempsey cichlid, Blue Acara cichlid, Green Terror Cichid, Cuban cichlid  and the multispinosa cichlid.
