How are your cherries? Any more females carrying eggs? I'm more interested in crayfish, I will post photos soon.

The Cherries are doing fine & always munching on the moss. They seem quite happy with some direct sunlight & yes, there's another female carrying.

kept cherry shrimps for a couple of months, very beautiful shrimp although growth rate slow. they used to breed for at a temp of about 22 and 24 degrees celsuis. the tank was filled with coconut shells and driftwood and aroung three types of mosses and a liverwort, namely the monosolenium. used to feed once every two days with hikari crab cuisine and a partial water change weekly ensured health and strong colours.the baby shrimps when born are very small about 2 mm in lenght and are miniature replicas of the parents but lack the red colour( at leats mine did no have it). well happy shrimp keeping to everyone.

When they are young, most of them are very pale in colour, but eventually, the females will be more red & easily sexed.

Do you think I could keep some shrimps as part of the cleaning crew ? Will they be eaten by Bolivian Rams ??

    Re: Shrimps.

I never kept the Cherry Shrimps with fish, so i cannot tell you much, but i keep the Amano Shrimps with Corydoras & Tetras, without any problems. I used to keep the Amano's in a planted tank & i had a Clown Loach there. I never saw any aggression from the Loach.

If you plan to add some Shrimps, i would go for Amano Shrimps, as they are quite hardy & tolerate water conditions.  I don't think that the smaller type of shrimps, like Cherries & Tiger would be at their best with the Rams & they will be hiding alot.

If you add the Shrimps, just buy 2 & see how it will go & if you see that everything works well, than add some others. If you are planning to breed the Rams, than i would suggest to leave them on their own, without any other fish or shrimps.

You can add an Apple Snail as cleaning crew, buy you have to remove it, if the Rams spawn.

Meaning it is very dirty ( with brown algae)

Ok I will buy them from you , how many do you think I need for a 54L tank (60cm length)

You can scrape the Algae from the glass with a magnet & the Apple Snails will help you with the rest. I also think that if you add some live plants, these will help you reducing the algae as well. There are also fish, like Bristlenose Pleco & Otocinclus, that eat the algae.

    Who told you so?.

For sure not with all plants, as I used to keep Apple Snails with Anubias & they didn't touch them.

    Re: Shrimps.

Anubias have a sour taste in their leaves which leaves them untouched by fish and other like snails. But I heard cases that snails ate anubias too, but  don't know what type of snails.
