Good luck with the new fish you will be introducing maniac. Sometimes it feels a bit hard to remove some of the " old " fish you have kept for a long time but as you rightly said some new fish in the tanks will rekindle our hobby instincts.

Good luck and keep us updated.

    thanks Martin =D

some fish also tend to go away from my tanks by themselves like my 'male' uaru did =/ my 5 nearly sexually mature green severum killed him .. but on the bright side I know my severums are on the right track from breeding so I might add them to my breeding projects this year ^^

Today I also set up a 100 litre corydoras only tank where I am going to house my 100+ bronzes [1-3cm] till they get at a sellable size, their parents, 10 peppered corydoras and some C.sterbai as well. Then I think I'll add some endler's with them too.

Instead of the cory fry, now Im going to get a trio of honey gouramis, maybe they'll breed xD

Then I shall cull my angels and separate them in 2 different tanks and hopefully they'll grow up and develop stunningly.

Then I have to set up my American  cichlid display tank, my 'rough' tanganykan vs. malawi community, the mainly asian tank and finally them severum breeding tank ... phewww!

Lots of work to be done .. hope I'll finish soon - I can't wait to start my breeding projects =DD

At first you are in control of your hobby but later on Fish Keeping will manilpulate you :s

Big projects Rob. Big Smile It's always nice to see a fish room full of ideas & planning them would be quite interesting, so you'll have a good finished result.

A 100L Corydoras grow out tank is great & I remember my C.aeneus albino & C.paleatus growing out in a similar tank. I also have a few C.sterbai & they're on their own with a spawning mop & a box filter..... nothing happened yet, but I'm sure that they're of age, as I found some eggs about 2 months ago.

Good luck with your community tank & also with your breeding projects. Wink

    Cichlid maniac:

atm my fishroom is a bit abandoned .. I do't have that large amount of fish and I am trying to sell my "old" fish just to rekindle some enthusiasm and bring new species to my fishroom =P

This is where our hobby gets expensive and as you said funStick out tongue. Anyway, all fishkeepers do it once in a while, after all, there needs to be a challenge in the hobby otherwise it gets boring. This year I introduced 7 new species to my fishroom, namely p.demasoni, m.ramirezi, blue acaras, orange chromides, apistogramma steindachneri, n.tretocephalus and n.leleupi. I do not think I will be adding anything more however if I see anything interesting at a good price I always tend to take a look.

This week, I removed all the livebearers from my planted 140L tank & yesterday I introduced the 2 Bristlenose that I have. Both are fully grown & I've been keeping them for more than a year. There is only 1 cave & it's covered with bogwood. It's my 3rd time trying to breed this species.......  With them I also have 5 C.paleatus & hopefully I'll be adding some Platies & Swordtails.

What species do you have? As yet I have not tried breeding mine...hopefully this year I will. Are they difficult?

    Best of luck

Exactly what they are, I don't know. I have bought the "albino" male & a friend of mine gave me the "normal coloured" female.

A year & a half ago I saw some eggs but the female was a different one. I have some pictures but nothing hatched. The eggs looked fertile & the male was guarding them.

    They look fertile.

The problem with Ancistrus is that most of them have not been classified into species so they are hard to classify. With albinos it is actually more difficult as the color pattern is not there.

The male was "cleaning" them & taking care of them, but as I said, I never saw any fry. In that case (as it's today), the female was "normal" & not albino. Now I'll wait & see what happens this time. Huh?

Let's continue this discussion in the Ancistrus thread because we're out of subject here!! Wink

So sorry to hear of your Uaru Maniac. Mine have killed 1 as well and now the others left had to be separated due to bullying. I am to remove the red and green jewel cichlids from the Brichardi tank as these have spawned and are bullying the Jewels.
