Here is a small new shelve that i've made, it still has to be painted but it will hold a an 11 ltr tank, 27ltr tank, and a 9ltr tank. Since these are very small things the shelve is worked out good enough to hold them without any problems...

Here is a photo of the shelve:

Note: It just has to be painted and i will put the tanks in place soon Big Smile

Np mate... actually it isn't that bad because i've painted it about a year or so ago... The colour is different because the darker blue part, because the other sides of the wall are very light blue, that side is a side of a coldroom... But anyway i don't have chance to re-paint the wall again to make it the same colour lol So i just keep it in mind for the future...

Please note: When i just say "future" it might be 10 - 100 years more... Stick out tongue

Looking good Kurt. Be sure to paint properly the wood as it will rot if water gets inside it and will break easily, or is it marine ply wood ????

Yep and its going to take more shape this week as i'm going to move my small tanks onto that shelve and maybe i'll build the coldwater and just fill it to begin cycling...

Btw i've painted that shelve and i've made an adjustment so that i could hang the hood of my planted, so that when i'll be arranging plants or doing something in the tank i will still have direct light from the top of the tank... I will post some photos tomorrow of next tuesday Big Smile

If you are going to use air driven filters, just make sure to place the airpump on top of the tanks, so you don't have to use a non return valve.

Yes i'm still thinking where to place it... At the moment its on the top shelve behind the male betta tank but i think that i still need to put it a bit higher because of the small tanks...

Although i've got a couple of glass non return values and i could use them instead of having to work out a place for the airpump to be higher than the tanks because it won't look good in a high place i think... Confused

Remember that non return valves will reduce the pump output, so I would eliminate them & place the airpump higher than the tanks.

Thanks for the info mate, i never realised that before... Some things are so simple that you don't even think about them...

All my pumps have a non return valve so I can hide the pump behing the tank , the loss in airflow is miminal and you can adjust it with those plastic regulators that allow you to have more then one output.  But don't buy cheap ones (non return valves) because I bought some and most of them are not working anymore.  I will tell you , if you are interested , next Sunday at the club where to get some good quality ones.

Thanks mate... I will consider maybe putting some non return valves or not... But i will probably put some because i've got some non return valves and they should do the job...

Re: The fish room...... sharing ideas.

So i've made one big improvment to my fishroom... The first shelve is ready with tanks on it.

Here is a quick photo of the shelve with tanks on it:

(If you notice there is something which looks extra underneath the shelve...)

But actually it isn't extra because i've made it so that i could hang the hood of my planted when i'll be arranging in it...

Here's a photo of the hood hanged with the bottom of the shelve:

...Btw the tank just looks dark in the photo it still has lots of light when i hang the hood, because in the photo it looks that i've made it for nothing because the tank is still dark lol And btw that plug is of the heater in my 19ltr tank because i need to lengthen the wire of make a small extension.

Still lots of things to do and to arrange !!!

SO thats basically the latest update of my fish but i'm going to make a very similar shelve to hatch brine shrimp and maybe put other small things on it... But that isn't that important so it can wait a bit Stick out tongue

Anyway thats all for now, any comments will be highly appreciated, Thanks Big Smile

     Hi Kurt,

Nice arrangment you have there. One suggestion about the hood for the planted .. it's far from the tank, too much, most of the light won't make it to the tank as it will be dispersed. Try to lower it say 10 cm from the tank for better results.

I didn't make it that low since it will become a bit too low i mean since you'll be cutting plants, or doing anything in the tanks you will stay hitting your hands with it... And even for water changes its great too because i will still have good light. Although maybe i could take your suggestion and lower it a bit for better results...

My actual main problem of light is the duckweed and i'm going to get some next meeting for any members to take and so that i will get rid of big part of the duckweed that i have....
