    Visit to San Lucjan tower

This month the Malta Aquarist Society is organising another visit for its members. This time we're going to San Lucjan tower. Ray Caruana and Charlie Grima are organising this. There are two dates available for this outing. This is because only a group of 25 is to go at once because of health and safety measurements.

The first one is on the 28th of June and the second is on the 19th of July. Both at 1pm. The one in June is fully booked because this was announced in May's meeting, so those that were present had preference on the others. But no problem, you can still give you names for the July outing.

For both occasions we're meeting at San Lucjan tower in Marsaxlokk before 1pm. Send me a private message or email on jtheuma@maltaaquarist.com to be with us, without disappointment.

    Venue: San Lucjan Tower, Marsaxlokk

    Date: 28th June 2008   - fully booked

             19th July 2008   - already half booked

    Time: 1.00pm

Transport: With own transport. We'll meet there.

Two years ago we organized one for the Gozitan members & a few Maltese members & it was a great success. I think it will be very popular this year as well & i am sure that both dates will be fully booked in a few days time.

Today we had the second visit at San Lucian, I am saying the second because we had another one organized for the Gozitan members  and another one in the near future for the second group of Maltese members .

As usual Ray Caruana was the tour leader in such organized and efficient complex; first we saw the injured turtles being prepared for their future release as ray explained in details .Afterwards we where shown the feeding room and the laboratory where students do the studying of various experiments, he showed us a documentary on saving our seas (I don’t want to explain in details so that you we see it in your tour)

We where shown aquarium set ups and feeding of fish.

I would like to thank all the members for being sharp on time and would like to thank Ray Caruana for the full cooperation during such visits and all the help he gives to our members. Another thank goes for all the organizers keep it up friends

First of all I must thank Ray Caruana for the very interesting visit we had at San Lucjan. I liked the fish feeding time most. I also liked the dvd about conservation which is very interesting to watch.

I must also thank the members present and their families for coming with us. Next visit will be on the 19th and those who wish to come there are still a few places available.

Thank you all for coming. You're always welcome!

The exhibition is currently being re-organised for the coming scholastic year, so some aquaria are awaiting to be re-set  while some specimens are being held elsewhere because of the summer months, but all in all I think it's still worth a visit. I hope the second group will enjoy it as much as the first.
