     Hello maverick!

I breed peacock cichlids regularly (auloncara spp.). When you breed peacocks all you need is a mature and compatible pair. If your female neglects your male, they wont't spawn. When ready she is ready and full with eggs she will turn very fat and the male will be very inerested in her. He will construct a nest ( kind of a bowl in the gravel) or else he will find a flat piece of rock to spawn on. The female will then incubate the eggs in her mouth after mating and she will carry them for about 21 days, depending on the species. If you want you can leave her in the main tank and then she will release them and protest them herself, the theory of the " Survival of the Fittest " will be used. Or else you canstrip her yourself after the incubation period.

     Good luck :s

Is that your fish, maverick?. Are they on their own, or with other Cichlids?.

Wonderful cichlids you've got there Maverick! Hope you'll have success with breeding them. Are your pair staying together? Is the female's belly looking rounder? These are simple questions you have to ask and check for in your pair.

    Re: peacocks

We can't predict what your fish are going to do, every fish is different! If the male is displaying very deep colours and flaring to the female, spawning is imminent, if they  are fighting thay are maybe testing eachother's strength so that they will have a pefect mate to produce their offspring with.

     Gd luck :)

    Re: peacocks

If you have in mind to keep these fish together you have to set up your tank partly heavily setted with rocks and the other half with lots of swimming space because Auloncara spp. do not use a lot the rockwork. If you have a high tank you have no problem ...

I keep mine with - Haplochromis burtoni ( breeding pair ), Labidochromis chisumulae, Pseudotropheus "red top Ndumbi" ( breeding pair ), Matraclima " blue red top" ( breeding pair ), Metriaclima estherae "red", Copadichromis borleyi "red fin" (trio), 4 huge Synodontis ..

I think you can safely keep those mbunas with them ... are those Pseudotropheus demasoni or a male Pseudotropheus saulosi ??
