They are really growing fast. I'm feeding them Nishikoi sinking pellets and Tropical wafers ( colour). I have about twenty of them.

Very nice & really a cute little Crayfish. Big Smile

You can also try other types of food, like crushed snails but the Nishikoi products are quite good, especially the growth one, for raising the fish fry. You can try it on the Crayfish as well, as it sinks easily.

    Well Done my friend.

Today I transferred my small crayfish into a  2ft tank on their own to have space. I added plants and apple snail shells to have hiding places. There are some that are double the size of the others. I counted thirty as I caught them one by one. I also searched on the net and I came to a conclusion that they are Procambarus alleni ( Electric blue colour), because there are other colour forms such as white.

These aren't aggressive as the Procambarus quadricirinatus which you gave me.

I like feeding these small ones because I calculate a granule for each crayfish, and every crayfish will be having one between its hands. They fight for food....

Big Brother compared to a €0.50 coin. I think he ate some of his sisters and brothers... as I didn't find them all Sad  He's a male for sure.

    Re: Breeding crayfish

As to answer Jazz's question I wished I had a few photos but I will explain the difference..

So I'm going to talk about this type of crayfish the Procombarus alleni..

    1. The male has longer and thinner claws then the female.

    2. Crayfish walk on four pairs of legs that are on its thorax. These legs, plus the pair of claws, are called thoracic walking legs. In mature male crayfish, there is a gonopore (a small opening through which gametes are released to the outside of the body) at the base of the 5th pair of walking legs. (The 5th pair of legs is at the are at the back. In a female crayfish, the gonopore is located at the base of the 3rd pair of walking legs. The gonopores are a bit small and sometimes the same colour of the crayfish. They are like two spots. To see them you have to turn the crayfish in your hand.

    Re: Breeding crayfish

You can post a photo of your Crayfish, maybe we can identify it. For breeding these crayfish mentioned above I only had them in a 45cm aquarium because they were small.

It's not that easy to breed crayfish because when I have two crayfish together I always end up with one, because they kill each other.
