Thank u very much Esther for yr comments and video

i really loved it,still dont understand how in the wild fry manage to attach to parents nearly 100%  not being eaten or lost and in the aquarium they scater all over the place before going in to free swimming, i think domestics lost lots of abilities like fight for survival along the way

I think you are right Natalia. Domestic fish still have their abilities but in the wild they have to use them more.

Anything new about your Discus (or other fish) breeding, Natalia?.

    Re: Discus - Symphysodon spp

hi everyone,i have an aquarium with discus,i had 4 discus that i bought together, and a week ago i went to a local fish store and saw a white discus i bought imediatly as it was really nice, as soon as i put the fish in the aquarium it clicked with one i had, and they were all the time together in a corner or another, about 3 weeks from when i bought it the white discus died and the day after the one i already had died as well, do you think it missed the other discus or is it just a coincidence.

Welcome to the Malta Aquarist Society Forum, joseph. Big Smile

I think that when buying fish, you need to place them in a quarantine tank for a few weeks. For sure i cannot say what happened to both your Discus, but if the new one had something, it might have passed on the other one that you already had & so both died. With a quarantine tank, the story would have been different & only the new one would have died.

How long have you had the first 4 Discus?.

Try to quarantine them this time & when you think that they are healthy & eating well, place them with the others. I nearly always leave "new" fish in a quarantine tank for 4/6 weeks, but mose fish keepers say that 3/4 weeks is enough.

I wish you goodluck with the new ones you're getting & hope they'll get on well with the others. Is the tank planted, as Discus are tend to be a bit shy & they also like a "dimmed" setup.

It may be a light problem, or you have too much light or else lack of light. What type of plants do you have?. Are they Vallisneria?.
