Hi Mark if you don't have a spare tank you can't do much. For succesful breeding and rearing of fish one needs to setup breeding tanks.

If not you other tankmates will devour your fry, give the chance. If possible leave some light at night so that your Discus will continue taking care of the eggs.

The eggs are white ie not fertilised. And I still don't know if I have a breeding pair or two females. Surprisingly, not a single egg was touched overnight! Fingers crpssed for the next spawn, I will take care of the tank until then.

hi Mark great. You are very lucky that out of two you seem to have a pair. But i was amazed that they already laid eggs because they seem to be so young still.  Well what you can do if possible try to put a separater in the tank. YOu will see that the discus will lay again usually in about a week or so. try to feed them some bloodworms so that way they will have more proteins. It is usual for the discus to eat all the eggs. The fact that they were white shows that they were not fertilised and it could be that the male is still very young.

however it is a great start

Hi  Mark well that is a good thing, the bigger they get the more eggs they will lay. So feed them well and try to give them different food so that they do not only eat one kind. I have a pair which keep breeding but so far have not raised a big brood. It is such learning curve, that you are always discovering new things, and with these fish i feel you move one step forward and maybe another two back. Just when you thing you have figured it out as regards the water, and so on one dies for no apparent reason.

So keep up the good work

You are right Cikkus. It is not only with discus but with alot of other species. Obviously discus is classified as more delicate and difficult to breed. Would it help if the pair are on their own when breeding instead of having tank mates around them ???
