    Re: New year

HI just wanted to wish all a  happy new year. Unfortunately mine did not start with a good bang. Yesterday did a partial water change in my malawi tank, and till about 11 i was still home. MY internal filter which also areates my tank must have moved a bit and it seems that a there was a lack of oxygene in the tank. I got home at around 11pm and i found some fish breathing for air at the top of the tank, while others had already died.  A complete disaster. I must have lost at least over a 100 euro worth of fish. But apart from the money the thing is that i had had these fish for at least a couple of years and some like the katanga i had bred myself. The tank now seems so empty. But at least i managed to save my frontosa. But i lost a lot of lelupi and brichardi. I have only one left now.

Bad luck friend but what happened exactly, was the filter running? Don’t you have an air pump? Or the water change was bigger than normal?Sad

    Re: New year

Same goes from me to all of you for 2010.  So sorry Frank with what happened. I went through the very same bad experience with some very big tinfoils when there was a power cut and we were at a BBQ till the early hours of the morning about 2 summers ago. If you need any help Frank please just ask. In every aquarium, besides the filter, I keep a box filter running so that is something goes wrong with the filter or the air pump there is always an alternative aeration going.
