    Crystal Red shrimp

The first shrimp I'm keeping are the Crystal Red shrimps. As you may have seen in the planted forum, I bought 4 of these little creatures and are doing fine. They have some nice markings as you can notice for the picture below.

hi i bought a few too but they are so small practically invisible. The other day i thought two had died. but they i realised that they had just changed their shell like the crab does.

Mine aren't that small cikkus. Yes they change their exoskeleton when growing. How many do you have?

    hi

well i only have six and am keeping them in a small plastic container. I do not know if i have two species because some of them seem darker. But they are really small, the size of a cherry shrimp. tthere was an article about them in last month in a magazine.  I wonder though if we have the same species.

I haven't seen one of my shrimps for almost two days as it was always under a piece of bogwood. On close inspection yesterday I saw that its carrying eggs, dark in colour. I will check today to be sure.

I din't know that shrimps hide when they are protecting their eggs. Cherry shrimps still venture amongst the plants.

    Hi mate

Great about the shrimps. I have had a look at my shrimps, no such luck. Maybe I should send them for a holiday to your house so that they learn the facts of life. By the way how big are your shrimps. And what do you feed them.

As regards food I feed them Shrimp pellets which I bought from the club plus flakes, but from the latter I don't know how much they eat because the platies eat every bit.

The shrimps are a bit more then 1cm,they're not big Cikkus.

Shrimps eat everything since they are scavengers but I think that shrimp sticks are formulated for them.

The female carrying the eggs left her hiding place and its been a week since that, but the eggs are still attached.

Its a bit difficult to get good photos, since she's always near the bogwood.

How's the "she" Shrimp doing, Jon?. Keep a look out, as if I'm not mistaken....... you'll be having some shrimplets very soon.

Cikkus.... I feed mine all sort of food & sometimes I don't feed them anything at all for a long time, but with all the moss they have, I'm sure that they'll find food without problems.

I can't see if the eggs hatched yet but she's still clinging to the bogwood although not under it. But she's always somewhere safe. Here is a photo of the female although not very clear.
