    some 'new' malawis

plachidochromis sp. mbamba - this is a very calm haplo, to be kept with aulonocaras and calm haplos, not with mbunas - easily stressed - very similar to plachidochsomis jalo in behaviour. this is my F1 male - i have just got a couple of these - no breeding yet!! but waiting for first signals.

plachidochromis sp jalo - this si my male - he has 6 females - breeding coloration all day long - breeding like rabbits - but males tend to fade off after a year or two - maybe exhastion from defending a territory for too long !!!

mylochromis melanotaenia - this is my f1 male - he has 5 females - had a lot of trouble breeding these cause teh male is half infertile - the females have 30-40 eggs and only 15-20 are fertilised so the females spit the young/undevelpoed eggs after 8-10 days - solution : egg thumbler - now i have the first batch of young melanotaenia - a very fast grower! - these are housed in a 700 litres with large haps and some calm mbunas.

aulonocara stuartgranti mdoka - this is a wild-caught male - which i have with my 2 f1 females - i just got the first fry. not an easy fish - needs a calm aquarium - less hardy than the average aulonocara. here pictured with plachidochromis phenocilus sp mdoka white lips.

this is probably one of the latest discoveries from lake malawi - discovered by carsten gissel - plachidochromis phenocilus gisseli - previously tought to be electra - very similar until you see it in the proper light - when it will reflect a wonderful greenish blue!

hi there it was only after i posted the message that I realised that you do not live in Malta. Can i ask you were you are from please. We have had visitors coming to Malta who brought us fish with them. But it depends how long the flight is.
Well on my side i am ready to make an effort

     cheers

    Re: some 'new' malawis

hi thanks for the info, even though as charles said it should have been in the form of a private message so i guess it was my fault. :) Well belguim is not that far  a two hour flight, especially if you put in those oxygene pills. It is not the first time i bought fish and left them for hours in a bag due to the fact that i would not be heading for home., non the worse for wear,

Good to know you are maltese and that yo have not forgotten us. Maybe you can meet some of the members next time you come down.

once again thanks for the info and sorry for the trouble caused :)

    hi charles.

thanks. was not really an advert as such but an information. but i do understand you.

an idea would be to put a section with ''species kept'' or ''maintenance lists''.

At the time we're working with a new website but still at the beginning phase. Your suggestion are well appreciated utaka bay, so if you can elaborate more about the list you mentioned you can help us more.even by sending me a private message or opening another thread named suggestions.

Btw very nice cichlids you've got in your fishroom.
