plachidochromis sp. mbamba - this is a very calm haplo, to be kept with aulonocaras and calm haplos, not with mbunas - easily stressed - very similar to plachidochsomis jalo in behaviour. this is my F1 male - i have just got a couple of these - no breeding yet!! but waiting for first signals.
plachidochromis sp jalo - this si my male - he has 6 females - breeding coloration all day long - breeding like rabbits - but males tend to fade off after a year or two - maybe exhastion from defending a territory for too long !!!
mylochromis melanotaenia - this is my f1 male - he has 5 females - had a lot of trouble breeding these cause teh male is half infertile - the females have 30-40 eggs and only 15-20 are fertilised so the females spit the young/undevelpoed eggs after 8-10 days - solution : egg thumbler - now i have the first batch of young melanotaenia - a very fast grower! - these are housed in a 700 litres with large haps and some calm mbunas.
aulonocara stuartgranti mdoka - this is a wild-caught male - which i have with my 2 f1 females - i just got the first fry. not an easy fish - needs a calm aquarium - less hardy than the average aulonocara. here pictured with plachidochromis phenocilus sp mdoka white lips.
this is probably one of the latest discoveries from lake malawi - discovered by carsten gissel - plachidochromis phenocilus gisseli - previously tought to be electra - very similar until you see it in the proper light - when it will reflect a wonderful greenish blue!
