My 1.5mt discus tank started taking shape at last. Thanks to my daughter Sabrina, we managed to fill it up, do the fertilizer, do the gravel and started the filter etc etc.

That's nice Martin and well done also to Sabrina. Now you need a nice piece of bogwood to compliment with the backround.

You should continue feeding blood worms and introduce other foods like Discus granules etc...

Try to leave them hungry for a day or two before you introduce new food.

Very nice discus indeed. Keep the water changes coming. Do you have only 2 in the tank ?? You should start thinking of breeding them now.

Well strictly speaking you can leave the heaters on they just don't switch on of course , this accident could have easily happened in winter when the heaters are on. In these cases there's nothing much one can do ...

HI there i am sorry you lost all your discus due to electricty failure and fluctuations. I must admit i never thought that it could effect the  theromstat of a heater. Well i leave my heaters on in the discus tanks, and even though the temperature is high, with this fresh weather we had sometime it is on. As regards to the discus, i will give you a couple of small ones in the future. They are locally bred and as such should be quite strong. So that way you can start over again. Do not give up

Talking of persuasion.........I admire someone who although tried for several months, maybe years, to have some discus fry and never succeeded, but at the end, his persuasion and commitment rewarded him by an unforgettable scene of young discus fry eating from their mother's body. I know, as I have witnessed that scene myself....... Never give up.
