Yes they reproduce quickly but not like the pest ones, and yo ucan easily find new homes for those which you don't need.

     HI

i never kept these snails, though would love to keep some. But the thing is do they really eat other snails or not. And if yes once eaten what do they eat next.:)

Yes Cikkus I can confirm they eat other snails as I saw them do this myself.I saw them lately in a LFS and they were reasonably priced ( 1.60 eu ) and I bought 6 of them. The problem I have is that in one of my aquariums I have sooooooooooo many snails that the assasin snails cannot cope with all of them.

Martin, try to remove some of the snails by hand & leave the rest for the Assassins. Stick out tongue

Frank, they eat "pest" snails & keep on eating them till there are no more.......... when the "pests" are gone, they'll eat normal meaty fish foods. Big Smile

Yes I am removing as much as possible by hand but there are hundreds of them. The assasin snails do eat them but as I said there are sooooo many pest snails that the assasins cannot cope. I have acquired a snail trap and I am now catching alot at one go. This is a simple round device that you put a sinking pellet in and the pest snails go in to eat the pellet but then cannot come out back again. Works perfectly.

How are the snails doing, Martin?. Are you "winning" the "pest" snail battle with the Assassins & the trap?.

Re: The Assassin Snail (Anentome helena)

100% we are winning the battle. The trap does miracles although you have to be careful and on constant look out as some small catfish tend to get caught in the trap. I personally saw the assassin snails The assassin snails actually eating other snails. Now there are only few left which I am sure I will destroy in the coming weeks.I personally think that that is why I managed to save only a few BN fry as the snails ate the eggs before I managed to remove them.
