    Paradise Fish

    Hi Everyone,

I am still new at breeding. I managed to get a few paradise fish from some friends and would like to breed them. Is there are distinct features that i can distinguish apart from being males more brightly coloured and have longer fins cos that is all i found on the internet to distinguish between them. For example female dwarf gouramies are whitish in colour and males are redish, but paradise fish i do not know

    Thanks

You are right about the paradise fish...the best thing and the most appropriate will be a good photo of your paradise fish so we can determine their sex

    Hi all,

I'm the owner of those paradisefish you've seen edited by Charles apart the albino which is not mine. To distinguish  a male from a female it is not difficult, males are slimmer, have longer finnage and more colour, females don't have long fins and their bellies look fatter especially when they are full of eggs, besides, female have an esposed white papilla just behide their ventral fins, from which eggs are emitted!

At the moment I'm breeding the forth genaration, the fry are three days old and feeding greedily on infusorians which I've created.  If you got questions about just ask!  Wink

Hi val, the temp. should be around 24 deg.cel., don't forget to use a piece of gablo between"6cm squared" so that the male can consruct the nest under it and some tick plants like cabomba or hornwort to make cover for the female! let them separated for a month or so, feed them heavily of live food or frozen bloodworms to condition them to breed! good luck menYes, these fish are very easy to breed and profilic too! cu
