    The fish room...... sharing ideas.

After reading about how Jonathan is building his fish room, i would like to open this thread about our fish rooms. I would like to see the stands & tanks of other fish keepers & maybe some details about their setups, so we can help others who like Jonathan, are still building their fish rooms.... Smile

Here i am starting with my setups & hopefully others will follow.

These are the 5 "breeding" tanks (30cm) & 2 "species" tanks (60cm), divided in 2, so the species don't mix (C.sterbai, C.similis, C.swartzi & C.trillineatus). The "breeding" tanks are filtered by a sponge filter, while the "species" tanks are on 2 box filters each.

While the bottom tanks (60cm & 100cm) are "species" tanks (C.panda, C.paleatus & C.aeneus), the top ones (60cm & 50cm) are a "wild" planted tank (mixed Livebearers), an Angel tank with some Corydoras paleatus & the next 2 are fry growing tanks (C.paleatus). All these tanks are filtered by sponge or box filters.

These are the 90cm tanks. The top one is a planted with some Tetras, Corydoras & Angels & the bottom one is a "species" tank with C.aeneus albino. While the planted tank is filtered by an external & internal filters, the bottom one is only filtered by an internal one.

All tanks are heated by individual heaters.

    Nice fish room mate!

Why do you keep all the cory species seperated? Wouldn't they be happier in a larger planted tank?

If you intend breeding them its better to keep species on their own, because then if you find eggs you wouldn't know whose eggs are they.

    Thanks corydorasmalta. Big Smile

Yes, they prefer a bigger planted tank, but it would be very difficult to locate the eggs & know the parents, in these type of tanks.  So, i keep them in a species tank & if they lay eggs, i would know exactly which species are they.  Usually when i buy Corydoras, i quarantine them for a few weeks & then i keep them mixed. When they're about 12/15 months old, i separate them & wait for any breeding rituals........

I think it's quite tidy, especially where the fish are. Stick out tongue

I will try to post a picture of all the tanks together & also of the water storage tanks.

Just wanted to share some pictures of my fishroom , well here they are ...

Some of the tanks are empty since I have been re arranging the layout

    This is my workbench

This is another small workbench and storage for the 'imbarazz' , you can see my water changes tank in the background corner

This is where I prepare water for water changes , it used to be a normal dustbin.  It was never used so it was clean but still I gave it a good scrub with a new dishwashing scraper.  I drilled a hole near the bottom and installed a tap.

This is the lid of the water changing station I drilled some holes so that chroline passes out and put some nets so that no insects crawl inside. You can also see an airpump to agitate water to remove chroline

This is a 'pond' I have setup temporarly for my oranda's Stick out tongue

Hope you like and feel free to ask anything

Prosit Teddy indeed. Very neat and well organized. I did not notice that there was another thread opened about our fish rooms that is why I opened a new one by mistake.

Good idea for drilling the holes in the top of the water storage container Yes

Are you keeping the Oranda "pond" outside & uncovered?.

Personally i don't have loads of things to tidy up like you guys, but i try to keep it neat so that my parents see it neat and they consider letting me add more aquariums Stick out tongue

Apart from that i don't really hate it when it comes to tidy up because i like being down there near the fish and not thinking about anything but fish Big Smile

Next summer I am going to do the new aluminium shelving on the left hand side of the room. As you can see the right hand side shelves are all aluminium. I have to wait till summer to get the aquaria out in the yard.
