No I never kept Discus but my friend used to breed the blue tourquoise. Now I have his aquaria and when I am ready with my fish room I tend to breed these wonderful fish. What type of discus do you have Nat? Do you breed them?

Well Done than & hope to see some pictures, as Discus are quite nice & colourful.

I never kept them & i don't think i'll ever do, but they're not the "King" of Aquariums for nothing. Stick out tongue

    Discus home made food

    THE INGREDIENTS
3 cups beef heart - cleaned & defatted & trimmed
2 cups raw shrimp - peeled
    1 cup white fish
1 cup beef liver  - trimmed & rinsed well and soaked in very hot water 3 minutes
2 cups daphnia , and 3 different TROPICAL discus food from the club
2 bags  frozen spinach- steamed lightly
    1 bag peas- steamed lightly

Run all ingredients through a food processor. When everything is processed mix well in a large bowl.
Add the following: They may be obtained at your local health food store.
6 raw egg yolks , 1/3 cup kelp powder (a seaweed) , 1/4 cup brewers yeast , 1/2 cup wheat germ and 1 tab TROPICAL SPILURINA from the club.
Ipkt gelatin used for meat loafs, any grocer will have it. Melt it in one cup of hot water not boiling and add to the mix and mix until it blends in all the material, let it cool and put in the fridge for a night, take out the mix from the fridge and make it portions in a plastic bag, flat them as possible 10 mm thick, put in the freezer and after an hour take them out on a flat surface ,buy means of a ruler edge press them into blocks 20 mm square and put them straight into the freezer .As you can see the last thing is the gelatin so that it will seal all the material, to avoid any bacteria attacking the food.

Waiting for the pictures, Natalia. Big Smile

Thanks alot Charles. I think it's also good for any other Cichlids, as it's a very balanced mixture, with meat, fish & vegetables, all mixed in one.
