    Re: New fishroom

I am heating my fishroom the same way i heated it last year prior altering the roof. I will re do further adjustments during the summer months when I can leave the door open at all times. I wanted to do a " false " roof so that I will not have a heat loss , but have not found the time yet !!!!!!!!!! Giann if i see the gas heater with thermostat I will keep you informed.

Yes I agree Ivan. That is sometimes the problem when you heat the fish room with a non thermostat gas heater like I do. There is no way that i can regulate the heat in my fish room. On certain night during December/January the temperature in the top shelf aquariums increase more then I expected. We have to wait and see what is installed for us during January/ February nights now. Finger crossed.

    Re: New fishroom

It's been a while since I posted some photos of my fish room. Last month I had some spare time (days off from work) and some spare money to continue it with tiles and even paint. Here are some photos for you to see.

Back right hand corner of room and as you can see underneath the room was in need of some paint.

The gulley which will be used for water changes and as a safety feature for leakages. (Hopefully not, but when you have all that water one must be ready for it)

These 2 photos (the one above and beneath) show the entrance to the fishroom.  For now I'm using the wooden partition (raff) over the fishroom as a storage space, but eventually I will have two tanks for water changes and the water will go down by gravity.

The wooden partition (raff) from beneath. I will not cover this part with insulation so that the water changing tanks, will get the heat from the room heater underneath.

    Re: New fishroom

I think I'll be using sheets of jablo and plastic panelling on top of them.

So the fish room is on the move again & the foor & walls are ready.... If you need some sheets of "Jablo", I have some left & you can take them.

Well done Giann...... if you decide to heat the fishroom with space heating, you have to consider insulating the room as much as possible or else you will have heat loss. Keep up the good work.

Good to hear your fish room is on the go again Giann. Summer is a good time for us hobbyist as the day is longer and you can do lots of work. I myself will cover the walls of my fish room with polystyrene so it will be ready for the winter months. I will post some photos as well.

First I covered the walls and ceiling with plastic (the one you buy from ironmongers and bought by meter). I held the plastic with some nails and pieces of wood. Then I put vertical wooden stips every 50cm apart (kurrenti) to fill with jablo in between and to nail the plastic panels onto.

Great idea Giann. Looks great. That will surely keep the fish room warmth during the winter months.

    Re: New fishroom

Here are more photos since last time I had trouble with uploading them in photobucket.

As I said before the walls and ceiling were covered with plastic and then strips of wood were screwed. The photo below shows the covered ceiling.

Here underneath, the unpainted strip is to support the main lights of the room. I have another which isn't present in the picture.

Then I cut the jablo to size and filled the space between the wooden strips.

Then I covered everything with plastic again.

     including the ceiling....

and then on top I nailed the plastic panels..

I will post more photos as I go along...Now the plastic panels are all ready.

    Re: New fishroom

You can do a cooling storage room there Giann !!!!!  what an insulation. You took your time to do the job but you are doing it professionally. Do not forget to leave some air space for condensation purposes.
