| MONTHLY TABLE SHOWS
Each month, apart from having a meeting on which we talk on several aspects (Click here to go to the Meetings section), we hold a small show or as we call the Monthly Table Show. The latter consists of a small competition in which one may display his/her fish at the meeting. A team of experts will judge the competing fish on a series of criteria such as health, evident physical disorders, Colouration and many more. Each month will feature a different category or species and any member may compete. The Table Show species Calendar is always available in every issue as well as in the members area. The winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd place) will be awarded with a small token and will have a series of points allocated to them for participating. These points accumulate throughout the year and the member with the most points wins a grand prize. Below you will find samples of Tables Shows and articles which will normally be posted in the following Newsletter.
ANNUAL SHOWS
(MALTA AND GOZO)
| The Annual Show is the most important event that each and every member will be waiting for. Here the members will put up their best fish and compete in the different categories that the Committee will decide upon. Each member can enter as how many fish he desires obviously he must keep to a number of regulations. Like in the Monthly Table Shows a specific team of experts accurately selected by the Commitee for every category will judge each and every competing fish to determine the best 3 from the whole category. This is no easy task for the jusdes becuase of the amount of fish to see and judge as well as the difficulty to allocate the prize winner amongst some astonishing specimens. Each category will have it's own winners receiving both tokens, prizes and Trophies. Other special competitions will also be held. < Fish show at Victoria > by Castelain
The fourth annual Aquarium Fish Show of the Malta Aquarist Society - Gozo Section was recently held at the Ninu Cremona Lyceum main hall in Victoria; 12 club members participated in the show with a total of 22 fish tanks.
During judging, points were awarded according to the general arrangement of the aquarium and fish quality. Charles Pisani of Sannat won first place with an Oscars aquarium set-up. Charlie Axiaq of Victoria came in second with Peacock Cichlids while Robert Bajada of Sannat placed third with Mbuna Malawi.
A spokesman for the Gozo Ministry, Noel Formosa, and Victoria mayor Robert Tabone, spoke at the opening. A variety of tropical fish from the Rift lakes of Africa, such as Lake Malawi and Lake Tanganyika, South America and also locally bred fry, were on display.
There was also a selection of cold water fish, including koi, and several types of gold-fish.
